SNOW and PARKING update

Accuweather is predicting 2 to 4 inches of snow from 4 p.m. today through 4 a.m. tomorrow with no wind and no drifting. Our weather response plan is to have one grounds crew working this evening to clear snow as it falls on walks, with four student shoveling crew members clearing snow from building entrances. At 5 a.m. tomorrow the full grounds crew will begin removing snow  to be ready  for classes in the morning.

As usual, if Mother Nature changes her mind, we’ll adjust accordingly. Please remember to drive and walk carefully and dress for the weather.

Here is the planned schedule for parking lot cleaning which reflects changes requested by several departments to minimize impact on planned programs.  The changes are in the Hackman Lots alternative parking areas and the times for having your vehicles moved from these lots.

For smaller storms we clear the driveways in the student lots and wait for the snow around student vehicles to melt.  However, last week’s storm left far too much snow for this snow removal strategy to be effective.   With this much accumulated snow in the student lots we will need to have all student vehicles removed, the lots fully cleaned and student vehicles returned to their assigned lots.  The Young Center and Chapel lots will be the temporary parkinglots for student vehicles while other parkinglots are cleaned.
