The following is a message from Joe Metro, director of facilities management and construction:
As part of the College’s conservation and sustainability efforts, we are continuing our historical commitment to reducing the College’s impact on the environment. You can find out more about our efforts in this area at these links:
We understand that water will become an increasingly limited resource and that conservation of water is essential for the future. Please read the Scientific American article at this link to learn about anticipated future problems that we can expect from limited water availability and strategies to better manage this increasingly scarce resource. The water conserving shower heads and sink aerators are part of our campus-wide conservation work that allows the College to continue in our goal of reducing our consumption of resources to minimize our carbon footprint. The sink aerators that we are installing are 0.5 gallons per minute and the shower heads are 1.5 gallon per minute devices similar to ones that you would use in your homes.
Thanks for your cooperation as we work to reduce the College’s footprint on the environment.
